I was invited to speak on the TEDx stage in the Netherlands about the importance of welcoming 'newcomers' – otherwise known as immigrants and refugees.
It's easy to forget that immigrants and refugees are simply human beings looking for a new home. While many of us feel we may not be able to relate to these newcomers in our midsts, we all know what it's like to be new to something or somewhere. In my talk, I encourage us all to have a little empathy and to remember our humanity.
